From March 22nd to 26th, BiTS project members Jan Johan Ter Poorten and André Sartori worked together in the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle (MNHN), in Paris, France. The mollusk collection of the MNHN is renowned for comprising a wealth of material suitable for DNA sequencing, collected in recent scientific expeditions specifically for this purpose. Jan Johan and André had the opportunity of identifying and arranging a loan of more than one hundred specimens of cardiid and venerid bivalves, which will be analyzed in detail by the BiTS morphological and molecular teams. Their joint visit was also a good opportunity to liaise, particularly regarding shell characters to be studied and photographed in each specimen.
